Horn,Piccolo Trumpet,Trombone,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.746869 Composed by Bohemian Hymn. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Baroque,Easter,World. 7 pages. Keith Terrett #4786801. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746869). Arranged for Brass Quartet, Jesus Christ Is Risen Today was first written in Latin titled Surrexit Christus hodie, as a Bohemian hymn in the 14th century by an unknown author on manuscripts written in Munich and Breslau. In Latin, it had eleven verses. It was first translated into English in 1708 by John Baptist Walsh to be included in his Lyra Davidica (Collection of Divine Songs and Hymns). The verses of the hymn were revised in 1749 by John Arnold. Initially the hymn only had three verses translated with just the first verse being a direct translation; in 1740 Charles Wesley (one of the founders of Methodism) added a fourth verse to the hymn as an alternative, which was later adopted into the hymn as part of it. The hymn is also noted for having Alleluia as a refrain after every line. The hymn is set to a piece of music entitled Easter Hymn which was composed in the Lyra Davidica for Jesus Christ Is Risen Today. There was a later version of Easter Hymn composed by William Henry Monk which is also used for Jesus Christ Is Risen Today. Some denominations of Christianity often just use one while some use both. The hymn is sometimes confused with Christ the Lord Is Risen Today, which was written by Wesley. This is because the wording is similar and Christ the Lord Is Risen Today is usually likewise sung to Easter Hymn with Llanfair generally being the most common alternative. For more of my original music, great arrangements and all the national anthems of the world, check out my on-line stores: http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/keith_terret http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=keith+terrett Need an anthem fast? If you need an anthem urgently for an instrumentation not in my store, let me know via e-mail, and I will arrange it for you FOC if possible! keithterrett@gmail.com If you perform this arrangement in public, make a recording or broadcast it through any media, please notify the PRS (UK), or ASCAP (USA), or SOCAN (Canada), or APRA (Australia) or KODA (Denmark) or the equivalent organisation in your own country, giving the name of the arranger as Keith Terrett.

Brass Band. 41 pages. RBMusic #801860. Published by RBMusic (A0.1203187). Helping Hands is a march written for the British Bandsman March Composition Contest, entered into category 2 (marches for 3rd/4th section bands). It is dedicated to all the volunteers that make the Whit Friday March Contests possible, which is said to be the greatest free show on Earth. The piece is loosely programmatic in nature. The introduction is fanfare-like, announcing the date of the next Whit Friday Contests and the bands’ anticipation of and preparation for the event. The first section is the march of the volunteers, as they descend upon the many venues, ready to run the contests. There is the usual hustle and bustle before the second section sees the contests start. The bands strike up, march, finish and go from place to place, whilst the volunteers manage them, the audiences, and all manner of issues and problems thrown at them. The third section represents the bad weather which has, at times, presented itself on that particular Friday. But everyone carries on (possibly the sun comes out) and we enjoy the day.The trio uses the hymn St. Vincent by Sigismund Neukomm: St. Vincent de Paul is the patron saint of charities and volunteering, hence its use here. There is a small bridge that is reminiscent of previously used motifs and melodies before the hymn returns. The piece is influenced by marches that are commonly heard during the Whit Friday March Contests, using motifs, rhythms and harmonic progressions (sparingly) throughout the piece. This piece is for the UK-style brass band, includes march-card sized parts, with alternatives for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass.Other searchable terms: Delph, Denshaw, Diggle Dobcross, Friezland, Greenfield, Grotton, Lees and Springhead, Lydgate, Scouthead and Austerlands, Uppermill, Broadoak, Carrbrook, Denton, Droylsden, The Bush, Dukinfield, Tame Valley, Heyrod, Hurst Village, Ashton United FC, Stalybridge, Labour Club, Knight Templar, The Wizard, The President, Ravenswood, Honest Toil, Mephistopheles, Melphi, O.R.B., Castell Coch, Cornish Cavalier William Rimmer, T. Piano Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.864795 By David Cook. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Dan Severino. Rock. Score. 3 pages. Piano Teacher Press #6075583. Published by Piano Teacher Press (A0.864795). Eleanor Rigby is an example of a song that demonstrates The Beatles evolution of moving from standard rock and roll to more experimental and alternative sounds. A song on the topics of depressing loneliness was not a common topic coming from rock bands in the 1960's. However, being a teenager in the 60's, the minor melody caught my attention and became one of my favorite Beatles songs. All that said, this arrangement features staccato chords and a melody that alternates between staccato and legato phrases. I wrote it at an intermediate level so it would be playable by teen piano students. I think teen students that are beginning to expand emotionally will be attracted to Eleanor Rigby. I see this arrangement being popular for family gatherings, and recitals and well as self-satisfaction. Also, adult students and amateurs would be attracted to this arrangement.

Thomas Degan #973530. Published by Thomas Degan (A0.1389966). The Irish folk song Muirsheen Durkin tells the story of an emigrant from Ireland who goes to mine for gold in California during the California Gold Rush, 1849. The song is about emigration, although atypically optimistic for the genre. The name Muirsheen is a good phonetic approximation to the pronunciation of Máirtín (Martin) in Connacht Irish; it could alternatively be construed as a diminutive of Muiris (Maurice). A pratie is a potato, the historical staple crop of Ireland. America is pronounced Americay, as was common among Gaelic peoples around Ireland.-wikipedia.

Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 12 minutes Year of composition: 2006 Program Note: The mind searches for the oddest of couples. Felix Unger and Oscar Madison. Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett. The violin and the vibraphone. Aside from the letter V, the two instruments have almost nothing in common. We consider: the violin is the most aristocratic instrument in the Western musical tradition, the prima donna of the instrumental world, an instrument that has had, lavished upon it, more extraordinary music than any other since its invention roughly 475 years ago. And then there’s the vibraphone, a percussion instrument with pitched metal bars and motor-driven resonators that produce a vibrato. Invented around 1925, it’s an instrument created for dance bands and popular music. Anything You Can Do . . . is a confrontation between these two musical opposites. A sense of contest characterizes the entire piece, as the vibraphone seeks to establish its bona fides side by side with the violin, which in turn attempts to keep the vibraphone in its place by beating it at its own game. The first movement is conceived as a race, in which each instrument acts like the other – the violin explosively and percussively, and the vibraphone with lengthy bowed passages – while seeking to shake off the other. The movement concludes with the violin paying a series of huge, chords and a long, sustained triple-stop that, much to its fury, the vibraphone manages to match with a sustained double-stop of its own. The movement ends in a draw. The second movement begins with the violin doing its best to match the vibrato patterns of the vibraphone’s variable motor. Ultimately, the violin breaks free and plays a broad, arioso-styled melody. The vibraphone tries to match it, but cannot; try as it might, its fixed range cannot reach the stratospheric heights of the violin. Advantage violin. The third movement is constructed in three sections. In the outer sections, rapidly rising and falling lines and counter rhythms pervade as each instrument seeks to gain an advantage over the other. In the middle section, alternating, hocket-like phrases give way to bent notes and glissandi in the vibraphone, which infuriates the violin (how dare this upstart percussion instrument do something ordinarily associated with me?). The movement concludes with the violin once again attempting to lord its greater range over the vibraphone by playing a long sustained F# - the same pitch that conquered the vibraphone at the end of the second movement – only to have the vibraphone top it by playing a harmonic a full seven notes above the F#. Game, set, match: vibraphone. Some respect, please, for the new kid on the block. Anything You Can Do . . . is dedicated, with a thousand-and-one thanks, to Victor Romasevich and Jack van Geem.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1144868 Composed by Joseph Hart. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. A Cappella,Folk,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 15 pages. Mark R Lewis #745186. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1144868). Better known by it's longer title Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy, the text for this hymn was written by Joseph Hart in the mid-1700s. The text is thought to be loosely based on his conversion to Christianity. One of the most common tunes to be associate with the text is Restoration, sometimes known as Arise. This pentatonic tune comes from the Southern Harmony collection. This a cappella arrangement by Mark Lewis passes the melody between all four voice parts with key changes that place the melody nicely within every vocal range. Alternating between arpeggiating and homophonic accompaniment, this arrangement provides a wide variety of singing experiences for the choir over the course of the song.

Octavo. 14 pages. Christopher Durigg #641566. Published by Christopher Durigg (A0.1036560). Clocks by COLDPLAY is by far one of the most iconic popular songs of 2002. This arrangement is an accessible pop arrangement for 3-Part Mixed chorus; it is most suitable and appropriate for a junior high school or high school ensemble. The lyrics are incredibly human, connecting with common self-pondering that most people experience at some point in their lives. At the same time, the song’s gentle urgency aims to uplift the listener. This piece is sure to inspire the alternative pop/rock fans in your choir and audience, and it’s sure to give everyone nostalgic vibes of the early 2000’s. I hope you enjoy my arrangement of Clocks! — Christopher Durigg.

Forming an effective choral requiem of sorts, the seven movements of Nicholas White's IN SURE AND CERTAIN HOPE were written for The Tiffany Consort in 2006. With texts from the Book of Common Prayer, the piece offers an alternative to the more traditional requiem settings, and may be performed by chorus, soloists, and organ (with optional cello) or with strings only.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1153109 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Richard Hirsch. Christmas,Multicultural,Religious,Standards,Traditional,World. Individual part. 8 pages. Richard Hirsch #753352. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1153109). An arrangement for solo guitar of the all-time favourite Christmas carol composed by Franz Gruber. The arrangement starts with an introduction of the melody in arpeggios of natural harmonics and moves into broken chords mixed with arpeggios for the first rendering of the song in 6/8 time. In the second part, at the shift to 4/4 time, the melody is rendered in an African inspired version with natural harmonics reminiscent of tunes played on an African kalimba (thumb harp) woven into the broken chords and arpeggios. As the speed increases, and the volume decreases, the arrangement moves steadily toward a total kalimba version. I like to think of the first part of the arrangement as symbolising a night in the little Austrian village where Gruber lived and composed the song. The natural harmonics and base notes and treble notes on open strings denoting the village chapel bells ringing on Christmas Eve. The second part tries to give a feel for how the melody can stand as a symbol of our common human origins in Africa, celebrating the birth and unity of humanity. The arrangement is within reach of intermediate to advanced students of guitar and is a good introduction to natural harmonics on the twelfth, seventh, and fifth frets. The African inspired polyrhythm fingerpicking in the second part consists basically of the thumb alternating with the index and middle fingers in a repetitive cycle. The second part is notated in 4/4 time, but can perhaps be more easily be read and played as 8/8 time, as practically everything, especially towards the end of the arrangement consists of eight notes. The polyrhythmic second part should have an accent on the downbeat of the first beat of the measure followed by an accent at 3and (an upbeat), just before the fourth and final beat of the measure. Reading the four part harmony of the score may at first present a challenge but if played basically as eight notes followed by eight notes everything should come out right in the end. Refer to the mp3 version provided with the score if in doubt. I do not mark the natural harmonics explicitly in the tablature, there are simply too many of them. The diamond shaped notes in the notation denoting harmonics are found directly above the corresponding fingerings in the tablature. It has been a real joy to work with this arrangement of the song and I hope it brings joy to others in playing it, giving new life to the traditional melody.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.933520 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, Cees Nieuwenhuizen. Classical. Score. 48 pages. Upstream Music #482215. Published by Upstream Music (A0.933520). There are many more unfinished than completed compositions of Beethoven that have been preserved. ln these fragments one sees ideas for individual works. A large number of sketchbooks and sketches from the composer were preserved and are housed in libraries and private collections all over the globe. Some sketches are no more than brief experiments or short elaborated ideas, but there are also fragments preserved that nearly give us a complete picture of a composition. In the so-called Kafka sketchbook, which was published in 1970 in London, approximately 500 fragments of manuscripts were bundled that stem from 1786 - 1799. The Fantasia Sonata in D (deest 45) for piano forte in three parts, was hidden in the archives since 1792. This sonata of the young Beethoven, with striking similarities to the Moonlight sonata and the Pastorale has never been performed on stage. Young pianotalent Martin Oei played it for the first time in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, October 21st, 2012. The large, over 1100 bars comprising torso now known as Fantasia Sonata in D from 1792, cannot be called a sketch anymore, although Beethoven has not completed the work and used many ideas in other, later works. The reconstruction of the sketches was done by the Dutch Beethoven musicologist and composer Cees Nieuwenhuizen. The piece was probably written in Bonn, three years before he started to write his first official piano sonata of a series of 32 sonatas. In November 1792 Beethoven went from Bonn to Vienna to study with the famous composer Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). Beethoven rapidly proceeded to make his mark as a brilliant keyboard performer and as a gifted young composer with a number of works to his credit. In 1795 his first mature published works appeared, and his career was officially launched. Striking harmonies The re-using of previously drafted material is quite common in Beethoven's works. Apparently the material wasn't yet ripe enough at the time of its origination, or perhaps Beethoven changed his mind with regards to the new composition. This could very well be so regarding the torso from Kafka’s sketchbook that we now call the Piano Fantasia sonata in D. This piece contains 1100 bars of music, not taking into account the alternative bars. The piece is composed by Beethoven in 1792 - 1793 and was set up as a tripartite sonata in D with remarkable abnormalities in terms of form and content. There are striking harmonies that cannot be found in other works composed in that same period. It’s possible that the composer didn’t have the courage to publish it or that indeed the time was not yet ripe for it. Finally the composer let the draft go and never came back to it. Or did he? Thematic similarities We find phrases in several later works that share similarities with ideas and themes from Fantasia sonata in D. The first part of Fantasia sonata has the same theme as the trio of the third movement of Symphony no. 7 (in A Major Opus 92). Even the key and also the rhythm in 3/4 time are the same. This cannot be a coincidence. Similar mood and thematic parallels can be found in the Pastorale, the Sonata for piano no. 15 (Opus 28): it is striking that this piece is also composed in D and in 3/4 time. We find similar dramatic expression in the Sonata for piano no. I 7 in d minor Opus 31 no. 2. The second movement of the Fantasia sonata nearly has the same theme as the second movement of the Sonata for piano no. 23 in minor (the Appassionato Opus 57). Martin Oei, Daiel Wayenberg, Cees Nieuwenhuizen at The World Premiere in The Concertgebouw Beethoven begins the third movement of the Fantasia sonata with the main theme of the first movement, but now in e minor. lts appearance in minor is an entirely new idea. Nevertheless Beethoven doesn't elaborate the idea any further because it disappears after 29 bars. Now a new agitated theme starts in d minor, which was announced in the first movement, but now reappears in its complete.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775916). The term idioglossia is used to describe invented languages and often refers to speech patterns developed by twins. Barlow’s piece is inspired by this phenomenon. The musical ideas repeat, lengthen, self-reference, and develop freely representing the composer’s perception of idioglossia from his observations of recorded examples and live exposure. This three movement concert piece includes fast passage work, interesting textures, and beautiful melodies. Although challenging, it is composed to sit well on the instrument and fingerings are included to aid the performer. Alternation between dissonant pitch clusters and lydian material is common throughout. Indeed, a general dissonant-consonant-dissonant structure is represented in each movement and across the piece as a whole. 1st movement Uproot winner in the Colorado Composers Competition.

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Synthesizer - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1002834 Composed by Kyle Vanderburg. Contemporary. Score and parts. 11 pages. NoteForge #5319515. Published by NoteForge (A0.1002834). Crosswinds represents a melding of the traditional woodwind sound of the clarinet with digital live electronic techniques, and the piece explores the potential for this relationship in three parts. To begin the piece, the stage performer breathes through the clarinet, which serves to inform the electronic elements to come. This initial breath is captured by the computer program and is modified and reduplicated to create the sonic tone of a soft wind always present beneath the piece to come. This is the first step in uniting the digital and woodwind elements, as the same breath which animates the clarinet also activates the electronics. From this most fundamental element, the breath becomes a single sustained note from which the computer will generate all of its subsequent tones. The impression is one of a mentor relationship, where the traditional instrument provides the tools and the support for the electronic elements. The disposition is contemplative, though it alternates between a subdued easiness and a playful mystery, as if to introduce the digital aspects to the range and variety of the clarinet’s moods. The rapport between the two is hesitant in the first part: the electronics contributing a subtle reverb as the performer teaches the computer dexterity through a number of broad leaps, hinting at but never fully embracing the main motif. As the theme becomes more self-assured, the digital element now produces its own tones, parroting the clarinet melody to signal its readiness to be an equal partner in the conversation. As the clarinet begins the second part of the piece, the computer now provides a harmonizing undercurrent each time it is invited to do so by the performer. In the third part, the electronics play counterpoint to the skill of the clarinetist, the two elements intricately entwined. From the elemental sound of wind first produced by the performer and perpetuated by the computer, the piece concludes in a celebration of the relationship built between the two, and the main theme is fully expressed as the two take it in variations.Crosswinds is, in many ways, an experience of the history of our music through the relationship between traditional clarinet and modern digital techniques: the common elements they share, the singularity of their own particular strengths, and the beauty that can be experienced when they collaborate.Patch for live electronics available from https://bitbucket.org/kylevanderburg/crosswinds/downloads/

Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917407). Nineteen Skeletal Duets for Euphoniums is a set of duets of easy to moderate difficulty specifically for teachers and students in private lessons. The first 15 duets are arranged from Fifteen Safari Duets for Tubas which was composed in 1989 for playing with my tuba students at Berklee College of Music. They are at different levels of difficulty and in various styles so that we always had duets to play no matter what was the ability of the student. The additional four duets were added in 2020 for this set. The title of each duet is also a name for a bone in the human body, hence the name Skeletal Duets. There is something in each duet for students to learn: the basics of tone production, rhythms, melodic phrasing, jazz, graphic notation, etc. Most are sight readable and some have been performed in concerts. Nineteen Skeletal Duets for Trombones are the same duets but in bass clef. Twenty-two Skeletal Duets for Horns uses the first 19 as in the euphonium set with three additional duets added. Some of the euphonium and horn duets are in the same key so they can be played together.1. CraniumThis duet presents the cantabile singing style as studied for playing the trombone. I find that this duet helps the student much like the melodies of Borgodni (Rochet) etudes.2. StirrupThis duet provides an opportunity to read basic rhythms and articulations. I find that the more advanced students can read in a faster tempo where the less skilled students work best in the slower tempos – a common choice for all of the duets.3. HumerusThis waltz helps the student match phrasing in a cantabile setting. There are a few instances where the teacher (playing the first part) plays a phrase then the student plays a similar phrase.4. VertebraThis is in a rock style with syncopated rhythms with cantabile melodies. Articulations are especially important in this duet.5. AxisLegato scales and syncopated rhythms are the features of this duet.6. TibiaThis duet alternates in rock style and swing. Articulations and manipulation of swing rhythms are important.7. ClavicleThe key of A for this duet provides variation for the students.
